Signature Plastics

TPV (Thermoplastic Vulcanizate)

Signature Plastics extrudes custom TPV profiles for applications where a profile must seal under compression and perform reliably in outdoor or exposed conditions. TPV is commonly selected when long-term compression, weather exposure, and elastic recovery are required.

TPV extrusions are often used in sealing applications where rubber-like behavior is needed with thermoplastic processing.

What is TPV?

TPV (thermoplastic vulcanizate) is a rubber-based thermoplastic material created by dynamically vulcanizing EPDM rubber within a polypropylene matrix. The result is a material that combines the elasticity and resilience of rubber with the manufacturing efficiency and recyclability of thermoplastics.

TPV offers excellent compression set resistance, flexibility across a wide temperature range, and strong resistance to weathering, ozone, and UV exposure making it well suited for sealing and protective applications.

Common Custom TPV Extrusion Products

Custom TPV extrusions are used in a wide range of applications, including:

  • Seals and weatherstripping
  • Gaskets and compression profiles
  • Window, door, and glazing seals
  • Flexible edge trims and channels
  • Snap-fit and push-on seals
  • Automotive and transportation components
  • Appliance and equipment seals
  • Architectural and exterior sealing profiles

Many TPV profiles are further processed after extrusion to meet specific installation, fit, or assembly requirements.
